ABOUT LAUNCH PAD SPORTS COMPLEX
Launch Pad Sports Complex, formally known as Coastal Florida Sports Park, was originally built in 1964 as the spring training home of the Houston Colt 45’s (later known as the Houston Astros).
The Houston Astros called the Launch Pad Sports Complex their home for spring training from 1964-1985; that’s 21 years! In 1985, the park turned its attention to the amateur sports and hosted hundreds of NCAA, High School, and youth tournaments year-round.

The complex did not see any more professional teams play in their stadium until 1993 when the Florida Marlins used Launch Pad Sports Complex as their home for the franchise’s inaugural spring training season. The Florida Marlins played their first ever game in the former Cocoa Stadium. Since then, Launch Pad Sports Complex has been one of the nation’s most popular high school and college spring training destinations.
In the Summer of 2012, with a great deal and support from private investors, the complex got a major renovation of the entire complex that put in the amazing 4,700 seat professional stadium. This renovation also updated all the fields and facilities to make it one of the premier sports destinations in the country again. Despite its glorious past, the Launch Pad Sports Complex’s finest days are still ahead.
